In January 2020, Striem met with Antella Consulting Engineers in Kansas City for a Lunch & Learn.
During the meeting, they discussed a project called the “American Royal.”
The American Royal began in 1899 as a cattle show in the Kansas City Stockyards.
Over the past century, it has become a significant event in Kansas City.
In 2016, the American Royal announced plans to relocate to Kansas City, KS,
leaving the West Bottoms area it had called home for over 120 years.
The new $350 million campus would span 127 acres.
During the meeting, Striem was asked to assist in designing catch basins to capture animal waste and debris
during livestock shows held throughout the year. The project presented a unique challenge due to the volume
of waste produced in a relatively short time. After careful consideration of the variables, Striem recommended
a 2,000-gallon solids interceptor for each of the livestock holding areas.
There were to be (10) separate areas in total.
Striem and Bulls-i Sales closely monitored the project, maintaining periodic contact with Antella and the local wholesaler
after the initial meeting in 2020. Nearly five years later, and after multiple delays, Striem received the purchase order
in October 2024 — marking a record-breaking order for us!
